Hello Babid I think that must of the experienced IBIS creators use their own developed tools. I am not familiar with any commercial tool that can produce IBIS models with all the flexibility and options needed (not even mentioning ease of use). Usually the IBIS production phase is very tedious unless you are equipped with tools that cover all your needs. As for s2ibis3, notable shortcomings are that it does not calculate C_comp and it will "double count" on-die termination currents by placing them in both the [Ground Clamp] and [Power Clamp] curves. Converting differential output buffers will require some manual intervention. The commercial tools tend to take away the pain of these issues. One consideration: buffer models that require clocked initialization sequences are increasingly common, and nearly impossible to convert with s2ibis3. But I'm not sure how well any available tools handle these, since the tools tend to use DC analysis to extract I/V curves and those buffer models simply do not work in a DC analysis. I have in the past resorted to rewriting s2ibis2 to use transient analysis instead of DC analysis for I/V curves. It is possible that some other tools may have also done this. Unfortunately I find myself having to generalize about all of this. You would have to contact the various vendors to get the specifics. Is there any limitations with this free tool? What is the best tool for creating IBIS models.? -Thanks, -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner <http://www.mailscanner.info/> , and is believed to be clean. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner <http://www.mailscanner.info/> , and is believed to be clean. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. -------------------------------------------------------------------- |For help or to subscribe/unsubscribe, e-mail majordomo@eda-stds.org |with the appropriate command message(s) in the body: | | help | subscribe ibis <optional e-mail address, if different> | subscribe ibis-users <optional e-mail address, if different> | unsubscribe ibis <optional e-mail address, if different> | unsubscribe ibis-users <optional e-mail address, if different> | |or e-mail a request to ibis-request@eda-stds.org. | |IBIS reflector archives exist under: | | http://www.eda-stds.org/pub/ibis/email_archive/ Recent | http://www.eda-stds.org/pub/ibis/users_archive/ Recent | http://www.eda-stds.org/pub/ibis/email/ E-mail since 1993Received on Sat Jun 28 23:33:08 2008
