Radovan,

Thank you for the note. I was not actually pointing to the IBIS specification itself, but the Manual of Operations and Procedure at the very bottom of the page link I sent out. This contains the rules followed by the GEIA, our parent organization, for meetings, votes, membership and the like. Of particular interest to many, it contains the intellectual property policies we follow. Some of the procedures used by the IBIS Open Forum are particular to us, from long usage -- for example, that documents must be posted two weeks or more before any meeting at which they will be considered for a vote -- but the final authority for the most important issues is the Manual of Operations and Procedure.

As many people had asked for IP policy statements, I decided to send out the direct link for the convenience of those interested.

Hi Michael,

again me asking silly questions - but what are you really pointing in your mail? (I apologize, but I think that I am missing something)

As far as I interpret your message GEIA now offers (one should pay for it) ANSI-EIA-656-B standard (as we can see bellow)

ANSI-EIA-656-B	 I/O Buffer Information Specification (IBIS)(Revision of ANSI/EIA 656-1995)	 Available For Sale <http://www.techstreet.com/cgi-bin/joint.cgi/geia>   <http://www.techstreet.com/cgi-bin/joint.cgi/geia>

Questions:
========

1.) what is a difference between the standard that GEIA offers and the publicly available standards that can be downloaded on the http://www.eigroup.org/ibis/specs.htm?
2.) what do you mean when you say: "The Manual of Operations and Procedure should serve as the guide to policies followed by the IBIS Open Forum."?
Which manuals should be be followed (and which topics) on IBIS Open Forum?

Could you please advice?

Many thanks,
Radovan

Subject: [IBIS] GEIA Manual of Operations & Procedure now available free

The GEIA, parent organization of IBIS, has now made its Manual of Operations and Procedure, plus its Style Manual for Standards and Other Publications, available for download free of charge. We have received several queries regarding GEIA procedures on patent, copyright and other intellectual property questions. The Manual of Operations and Procedure should serve as the guide to policies followed by the IBIS Open Forum.
