I was reminded by a couple of private replies to my recent posting that I
was "out of line" with what I said in it on several fronts.

I would like to apologize for the language I used to all those whom it
affected.  I didn't intend to hurt anyone with what I wrote.  If possible,
let's put this behind us and continue with the discussion in a "constructive
confrontation", as they say it around here in my company.
